Job Overview
Join the team as a Maintenance Operative at Wood House at Shaw healthcare (Group) Ltd
. This role supports a high standard of care for residents in a well-reputed care home.
- Ensure the exterior of the building and grounds remain safe and well maintained.
- Coordinate and control building works and refurbishments with minimal disturbance to residents and staff.
- Carry out routine monitoring and repairs on all systems and liaise with the Home Manager if specialist repairs are necessary.
- Ensure regular tests and checks are carried out and recorded, including boiler function checks, fire alarm system activation and water services and water temperature tests.
- Advise the Home Manager on any potential maintenance problems, e.g. heating systems, refrigeration, electrics, gas and faulty equipment.
- Comply with all aspects of Health & Safety at Work Act (e.g. COSHH) to assist in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment, including recording all health and safety checks.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness within the care home and grounds meet Environmental Health, Fire and Safety at Work regulations.
- Maintain and store tools and equipment safely.
- Act as first point of call for staff when repairs are required and assist with staff induction regarding emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures.
- Provide telephone advice and be ready to respond to emergencies when off duty.
- Assist with driving the care home minibus or similar vehicles for residents’ outings as requested by the Home Manager.

Salary: £12.70 per hour
Working Hours: 15 hours per week across two shifts.
Full UK driving licence required for this role.
