Mechanical Fitter sought within a well‑established and internationally recognised company. The company are a top competitor within their industry.

The role will be suited to experienced mechanical assemblers from a manufacturing background but those with other relevant experience should also apply. The assembly must be able to work independently and read engineering drawings within set timescales.

You will be responsible for building machines from engineering drawings and diagrams and for precision assembly/fitting. You will also need to understand parts lists, relate them back to engineering drawings, and liaise with design engineers and other assembly fitters.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for experienced mechanical fitters looking for a role within an established manufacturer offering stable and ongoing work.

Responsibilities:
  • Follow all department procedures
  • Assemble parts to the required specification including:
    • Sub‑assemblies
    • Machine build
    • Machine panel build
  • Complete any quality documentation required for the tasks
  • Identify problems with assemblies/parts and raise any quality issues following the company procedures
  • Operate handling equipment and machinery when trained to do so
  • Support in the implementation and sustainment of 5S standards
  • Assist in the achievement of the Assembly operational plan
Knowledge and

Skills:
  • Previous mechanical assembly experience in a machine manufacturing environment
  • Experience of assembling large fabricated parts to engineering drawings
  • Able to read engineering drawings and understand Bill of Materials
  • Ability to understand mechanical design assembly
  • Good dexterity with the ability to handle a variety of parts including sheet metal, machined and electrical components
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge
