At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
GKN Aerospace are searching for qualified fitters to express an interest in working with GKN to operate as multi‑skilled, flexible workers to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency within our areas. We are anticipating further uptake in the coming months and will be in touch with any successful applicants.
What You'll Bring Essential- Must have a recognised indentured apprenticeship (level
3) - Export Control understanding and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work to standard operating procedures
- Previous manufacturing experience in an aircraft production environment
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure parts are produced on a ‘right first time’ basis
- Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
- Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
- Responsible for highlighting any non‑conformance to the Process Team Leader
- Adhere to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
- Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
- Hold first‑party inspection approval (M02 status subject to obtaining A‑stamp approval)
- Starting salary of £35,304 rising to £36,750 once fully certified (after around 3 months) + shift allowance where applicable (up to 33%) + up to 4% bonus
