Position: Community First Aider (University )

Overview

Community First Aider (University of Bristol) volunteering with St John Ambulance strengthens communities. From youth support and education to wellbeing, events, and fundraising; your time makes a real impact.

This vacancy is only open to University of Bristol Students who are members of the first aid society. At St John Ambulance, we are developing our volunteering offer to deliver community first aid and education within communities.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver first aid to those in need at local events.
  • Provide education to the public to grow awareness and the ripple effect of First Aid.
  • Support growth of community partnerships, recruit members, and contribute to fundraising efforts.
  • Attend regular training nights at the University of Bristol Student s Union and participate in inductions and mentoring.
  • Support the local network leadership team and committee in volunteering activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Passion for helping others and care about the community.
  • Willingness to commit time to volunteering and to develop first aid skills.
  • University of Bristol student and member of the first aid society (as stated in the vacancy).
Training and Support
  • Induction to volunteering with SJA and role-specific training provided.
  • A supportive environment while volunteering, with information available in the volunteer charter.
  • Multiple CFA courses are available in the county; additional courses may run if recruitment allows. Trainers, course capacity, and transport to a St John building are provided if required.
Logistics
  • Interview and Enrolment Day will be held in person at the Richmond Building on 23/10/2025 (timings TBC).
  • Closing date for applications: 03/10/2025.
  • Volunteers will be welcomed at regular unit meeting nights and will be mentored by the committee and fellow society members.
  • Inductions occur at the same time and support provided by the local network leadership team alongside the committee.
