On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Java Software Engineer to join my client for 12 months. As the Java Software Engineer, you will join a team that develop solutions for next Air Defence Systems, developing evolving products whilst maintaining our enviable reputation for safety, performance and dependability.

Role:
Java Software Engineer
Pay: £65 per hour via Umbrella

Contract:

Monday
- Friday, 37 Hours per week, 12 month contract

Bristol
IR35 Status:
Inside
Security Clearance: SC to start

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and evolve robust Java-based software solutions, tools, and architectures for next-generation Air Defence Systems.
Take a hands-on role across the full Java software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through implementation, integration, and automated verification.
Apply best practices in Java software engineering to deliver high-performance, reliable, and safety-critical system components.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate Java solutions within complex, real-time and distributed system environments.
Continuously improve Java development approaches by adopting new tools, frameworks, and techniques to enhance code quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
Essential Requirements/Skills/Experience

A strong background in software engineering, its realisation and system wide impact.
6+ years' experience of working in Java
Collaborative, open approach to development and can work well in a team and maintain momentum during development.

Experience of working across the entire software development process from engaging with requirement authorities to automated target integration and proving, supported with effective documentation

Experience of new tools, techniques and approaches that might enable us to evolve our processes to improve our efficiency and sustainability
Experience in other languages such as Ada
Knowledge of DDS middleware and Real Time Operating Systems
Knowledge of standards such as Def Stan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC
61508
