Aicraft Engineering Apprentice

Aboutthe Program
The partnership with Bombardier and Farnborough College of Technology offers real‑world, hands‑on experience in an aerospace engineering environment, with qualifications in the following stages.
Year 1Aviation Mechanic – Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering (Foundation Competence). Initial induction takes place in Farnborough, potentially off‑site, with living away from home for the first 4 months.
Year 2 & 3Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Maintenance (Development Competence) and completion of the UK CAA Aircraft Maintenance A‑License qualification through an approved Part 147 Training Organisation. Years 2 & 3 are completed at Bombardier Service Centre in Biggin Hill Airport.
What to ExpectAs an engineering apprentice you will be exposed to a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet the Engineering Technician Standard. You will work alongside highly skilled engineers and mechanics, receive comprehensive on‑the‑job training and be supported by a mentor throughout the programme. Returning to Bombardier for Years 2 & 3, you will continue to study your Level 3 Diploma, study for your CAA A‑License modules and be expected to perform maintenance repairs and modifications to Bombardier Business Jet aircraft safely, on time and within budget.
Contributionsto the Team
- Work within teams on scheduled aircraft maintenance and servicing
- Rotate with unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including defect rectification to aircraft systems and components
- Conduct repairs to airframe structures
- Perform all levels of modifications to aircraft structures, systems and interiors
- Carry out related duties, including operation of ground equipment, assistance in aircraft movements and aircraft delivery
- 5 GCSEs predicted or confirmed at Grade 5 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science at Grade 5 or above
- Not already completed the same or a similar Level 2 or Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship
- Meet funding criteria related to right to work and residency eligibility
- Work at least 30 hours per week
- Not currently on a funded training programme
- Spend at least 50 % of working hours in England over the duration of the apprenticeship
- Have the right to work in the UK and hold an eligible residency status
