Assistant Underwriter – Brown & Brown UK

Here at Camberford Underwriting, we are looking for an Assistant Underwriter or Underwriter to join our well‑established and successful team in Bromley.

The ideal candidate would ideally have experience in PL and EL underwriting, and Professional Indemnity and Property insurance knowledge would also be advantageous.

The role would primarily sit within our Security team, with the opportunity to cross‑train in and handle other products in time.

Experience
  • Underwriting activities are to be conducted in accordance with relevant company procedures, practice, and philosophy.
  • Handle renewals and mid‑term amendments, including reviewing and analysing presentations, proposals, and policy records for renewals.
  • Underwrite risks within own authority levels and in accordance with any underwriting licence that is in place.
  • Use capacity appropriately.
  • Enter risk information accurately onto appropriate systems.
  • Negotiate with brokers.
  • Keep relevant registers, logs, and records up to date as required by team procedures (e.g., new business logs, renewal registers, group business registers).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and insurers.
  • Conduct prospecting activities as required by team procedures (e.g., cases that lapsed last year, cases quoted but not bound last year).
  • Provide correct and high‑quality advice to brokers on Camberford Underwriting products.
  • Assist with internal peer‑review checks to satisfy our internal compliance requirements.
  • Carry out all business activity strictly within the rules and requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • Ensure the fair treatment of policyholders and prospective policyholders.
  • Adhere to all company and, where appropriate, group compliance policies, procedures, and practices.
