Are you an experienced Transport Supervisor / Transport Planner / Traffic Operator looking for a Monday‑Friday night shift role with no rotating patterns?
We're recruiting a Night Transport Supervisor for a busy transport depot in Bromsgrove You'll run the night operation looking after drivers, vehicles and routes and make sure everything runs safely, legally and on time.
This is a hands‑on transport office role in an HGV environment, not just a desk‑only planning job.
The Role - What you'll be doing- Run the night operation end‑to‑end: allocate routes, brief/debrief drivers and make sure all customer requirements are met.
- Act as the main contact for drivers and customers, dealing with issues such as breakdowns, delays and route changes.
- Co‑ordinate own fleet and sub‑contractors to deliver cost‑effective, on‑time solutions.
- Use in‑cab tech and the TMS to plan, track and record work, including vehicle and trailer checks.
- Support and develop drivers (including Driver CPC and on‑the‑job coaching) and maintain a positive team atmosphere.
- Work with the CPC holder to ensure full compliance with the Operator's Licence, VOSA rules and road transport legislation.
- Make sure drivers follow drivers' hours, WTD, tacho rules and speed limits, and manage tacho records and infringements.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained, inspected and defects fixed promptly, with accurate defect and maintenance records kept.
- Ensure vehicles are not overloaded, are kept at authorised operating centres when not in use, and all H&S procedures (SSoW, risk assessments, toolbox talks, LOLER/PUWER/RIDDOR) are followed.
- Support all other aspects of fleet and transport compliance across the night operation.
- Experience in a transport/traffic office role (e.g. Night Transport Supervisor, Transport Supervisor, Planner, Traffic Operator).
- Strong understanding of drivers' hours, WTD, tachograph rules and general transport legislation.
- Confident managing HGV drivers - allocating work, briefing/debriefing and dealing with performance or issues.
- Comfortable working Monday‑Friday nights in a fast‑paced, time‑critical environment.
- Competent with TMS/fleet systems and Microsoft Office, calm under pressure and a strong, approachable communicator.
- £35,127 per year + overtime paid at 1.5x.
- Fixed nights:
Monday‑Friday, 22:00-06:30 (no rotating days/nights). - Stable role with a well‑established logistics business and a busy local depot.
