Junior Accountant - U.S. Finance (Based in Burnaby, BC, Canada)

Join Cotecna as a Junior Accountant supporting our U.S. finance operations while working on-site at our Burnaby office. This role ensures the accurate and timely management of all accounting transactions, with a focus on accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) management. Also, you will help maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, process banking entries, and provide reliable financial reporting and analysis.

We specialize in on-site supervision, sampling, and quality control for shipments moving through the Port of Vancouver.

What you’ll do

• Manages all accounting transactions, particularly AP and AR management.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Accurately record transactions in Navision and maintain bank reconciliations.
• Process banking entries and ensure all financial transactions are properly documented.
• Processes online payments to vendors and subcontractors.
• Proactively communicate and reconcile balances with vendors to ensure accuracy by preparing AP reports, resolving mismatches, and updating records.
• Work closely with the finance team and managers on financial tasks and payment-related matters, with a focus on AP, providing insights into financial performance.
• Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of accounting and financial information.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager, as required by business needs.
• Handles sensitive information in a confidential manner.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, with preferred in accounts payable.
• CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with Navision/SAP or similar accounting software is preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar industry is advantageous.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement effective solutions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
