As a

Whatyou’lldo:
The Corporate Accountant I has an array of accounting and financial reporting responsibilities spanning all BCAA entities. These include:
Reconcile and adjust transactions between the general ledger and insurance sub-systems, andassistin the monthly analysis of various general ledger accounts toidentifyinconsistencies and implement corrective measures.
Reconcile quarterly and annual insurance results, working papers, and schedules for brokers and reinsurers, including quota share reporting, portfolio transfer, Excess of Loss Premium adjustments, commission adjustments, and other reinsurance reporting. Additionally, prepare working papers for external actuary review at fiscal year-end.
Build and update month-end schedules, including related reports, journal entries, GL accounts, prepaid schedules, andidentifyingand correcting inconsistencies.
Supporting the Senior Accountants to prepare and reconcile company tax compliance filings (GST, income tax, & premium tax) and update required Financial Statement Disclosures.
Recommend and implement processes improvements to improve efficiency and internalcontrols, andengage in other projects assigned by the Senior Manager, Controller & Manager, Corporate Accounting.
What you bring
:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Commercewith a concentration in Finance/Accounting from a recognized university.
Enrollment in CPAprogram, anddemonstrated progress towards Canadian CPA.
Minimum 3years’of accounting or auditing experience in an environment with multiple accounting standards and business divisions.
Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking abilities when tackling complex accounting problems.
You can quickly adapt to changing priorities and develop solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Bonus qualifications! Prior experience in the insurance industry, or a Medium to Large corporation, with a multi-entity reporting structure.
