Job DescriptionAECOM is searching for a Civil Engineer - Water to be based in our Burnaby, BC office for our Water and Wastewater conveyance group. The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, the design and construction of municipal infrastructure and be familiar with hydraulic modelling and planning principles. You will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and customers.
You will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. You will be supporting the delivery of infrastructure to customers mainly within the municipal storm water, water and wastewater sector.
- Design civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater / drainage conveyance facilities
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
- Prepare construction cost estimates
- Prepare project specifications and contract documents
- Perform constructability reviews, contract administration, and construction inspections
- Familiarize with hydraulic models including green infrastructure
- Assist with proposal preparation; coordinate with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 4+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in hydraulic modelling, planning, design, construction inspection, contract administration
- Eligible for registration as a P.Eng with EGBC or within 6 months of hire
- 6+ years of experience with civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, design, construction inspection, contract administration
- Training and experience in project management
- Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
- Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment, including both gravity and pressurized systems
- Familiarity with hydraulic modelling platforms
- Knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, rain gardens, etc.
- MMCD Contract Administration certification
- Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication with colleagues, contractors and clients
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Compensation
: CAD 82,000 – CAD 110,000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
