Overview
Arcadis Calgary office is searching for a Civil Stormwater Engineer to join its growing team. This role is highly rewarding due to its impact on public safety, environmental protection, and community well‑being. The engineer designs and manages systems that prevent flooding, reduce water pollution, and ensure proper drainage, contributing to a healthier ecosystem. This position will be working in a multidisciplinary environment on a variety of projects with sustainability mandates and the incorporation of low‑impact development strategies.
Role sits within our global Places business area. We work with clients around the world to create, support, and enhance smart, safe and sustainable places where people live, work, learn and thrive.
Role accountabilities- Perform hydrological and hydraulic modelling, including data collection, design review, model setup and calibration, and system assessment
- Support the development of stormwater servicing plans
- Develop rainwater source control LID concepts and assist in LID designs
- Provide technical analysis in support of Civil engineering design associated with municipal or rural stormwater systems and stormwater management facilities
- Provide quality control and peer review on colleagues' projects
- Coordinate CAD design technologists to prepare designs ensuring quality procedures are followed
- Coordinate with project managers on site design, budget, scheduling, proposals and related technical documents
- Develop and maintain positive client, subconsultant, and approving authority relationships
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Registration as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) or EIT with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in assessment, modeling, and detailed design of stormwater systems. Detailed design experience in general municipal engineering, transportation, or community development projects
- Experience in infrastructure master planning, flood management, or river modelling is an asset
- Excellent organizational, communication, and technical writing skills
- Strong software skills: using hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software such as PCSWMM, XPSWMM, HEC‑RAS, SWMHYMO, Civil 3D as well as Excel, Word, and Bluebeam

SalaryThe salary range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
