Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering business line in the Vancouver office. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Civil Engineer to lead and oversee the civil engineering functions of our organization. This senior-level position requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in civil engineering design, project management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The successful candidate will contribute to delivering excellence on complex infrastructure projects, supporting public and private sector clients in urban and remote areas.
- Provide engineering design solutions for industrial and mining projects
- Prepare cost effective civil and site utility designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with local codes and standards for industrial & mining projects.
- Perform site visits, inspections, preparation of reports, functional and detailed design relating to water and wastewater distribution and collection system, storm water management facilities, grading and bulk earthworks, parking lots and roads, sanitary pump stations, fire protection systems
- Serve as the technical authority for civil engineering components of feasibility studies, detailed designs, and construction projects.
- Lead the preparation of construction tender documents, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural engineers, mechanical engineers, geotechnical engineers, surveyors, environmental consultants, and architects, ensuring seamless collaboration.
- Manage the integration of environmental, geotechnical, topographic, and landscape architecture considerations into civil engineering projects.
- Guide projects from inception through construction, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency.
- Drive business development efforts by networking as well as contributing to proposals and presentations to clients.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.A.Sc. or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Professional Registration: P.Eng. designation and membership with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (or eligibility for registration). Professional Engineering accreditation in the US would be an asset.
- 8-15 years progressive civil engineering experience, including project management.
- Good, strong written and spoken English language communication skills
- Demonstrable expertise in water supply and distribution systems, stormwater drainage, sanitary sewer systems, large-scale earthworks, and infrastructure design.
- Extensive background working on water and utilities infrastructure projects.
- Good mix of work experience in municipal settings (with municipal roads, sewers, water mains ) and industrial settings – ideally including port facilities and mines
- Proficiency in preparing detailed designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Advanced knowledge of civil engineering design tools, software, and best practices; a good understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D; familiarity with Pipe-Flo and Caesar II
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
- Experience with public infrastructure, including transit, reservoirs, and pumping stations.
- Experience with seismic evaluations, pump station designs, and large-diameter water main design, construction and installations is an asset.
- Familiarity with Metro Vancouver and similar municipal/regional jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, environmental compliance, and safety standards.
