Mechanical Design Specialist

Join the Mechanical Design Specialist role at AECOM.

AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to join our Burnaby, BC office with hybrid work options.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will support the design, coordination, and delivery of building mechanical systems across diverse projects in Canada.

• Conduct drafting and 3D Revit BIM for building mechanical systems.
• Prepare mechanical system layouts and detailed design drawings using drafting/BIM tools.
• Translate sketches, notes, and mark‑ups into finished design documents.
• Assist in developing engineering calculations and equipment schedules.
• Support project specifications and maintain quality documentation.
• Prepare and submit drawing packages.
• Ensure conformance with code requirements and project standards.
• Operate engineering collaboration platforms such as Project Wise and BIM
  360.
• Self‑check drawings and models before submission.
• Participate in field inspections and construction administration as needed.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams across offices.
• Manage tasks with limited supervision while meeting milestones.
• Operate in both office and field settings.

• College diploma in Engineering Technology + 4 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in 3D Revit/BIM drafting.
• Secret level security clearance (or ability to obtain).

• EIT,
  
  C.Tech or CET designation, or working toward certification.
• Experience developing drawings from conceptual to detailed design.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit Family/BIM software.
• Knowledge of BC building code, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, NFPA 13, and related standardsli>
