Senior Telecom Engineer

Matchbox Consulting Group is on the hunt for a Senior Telecom Engineer. This candidate will apply advanced engineering knowledge to provide innovative design, planning, and quality management services for medium- to high-complexity projects. The role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

Contract: 1 year

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop safe engineering solutions, perform design work, analyze and resolve complex technical problems.

• Prepare progress reports, coordinate schedules, and propose changes to plans and estimated costs.

• Make complex technical decisions, recommend designs, and provide guidance to other engineering professionals.

• Communicate with stakeholders to define project scope, establish design criteria, approve technical documentation, and monitor progress.

• Lead or coordinate multi-discipline design teams.

• Work with telecom components including microwave systems, fibre optics, power line carriers, antennas, radios, battery banks, generators, and remote installations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in telecom network design, with at least 5 years in QoS and traffic engineering.

• Strong knowledge of IP/MPLS, QoS mechanisms (Diff Serv, RSVP-TE), and traffic engineering principles.

• Must have Nokia NRS II or Nokia Certified Service Routing Architect (SRA).

• Familiarity with OT telecom systems and standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CCIE/JNCIE or similar advanced certifications.

• Cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443).

• Experience with electrical utility engineering, substations, protection, control, and telecom systems.

• Strong project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
