Your impactWe are looking for three Building Mechanical Designers who are excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business.
As a Building Mechanical Designer at Jacobs, you’ll be at the cutting edge of our efforts to bring innovation and excellence to some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the region. You’ll use your exceptional design and analytical skills to lead the planning and design of mechanical (plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection) systems primarily for municipal facilities for water and wastewater projects
, but you’ll also contribute to other municipal, industrial, and institutional projects.
You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• Designing and drafting of plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems
• Preparing primarily mechanical drawing deliverables as required
• Assisting with, or carrying out, the preparation of deliverables and products such as load calculations, specifications, equipment selections, and cost estimates related to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional and light industrial facilities
• Coordinating with the design of other disciplines
• Performing field investigation for incorporation of existing conditions into construction documents as needed.
• Performing drafting assignments utilizing CAD or 3d modeling software; preparation of plans, sections, elevations, details, and construction documents for review and approval
• Participating in the Quality Review process with the responsible Engineer and Lead Verifier
• Assisting with construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI response, construction inspection, and respond to client questions.
• Working within a project team environment and possess good communication skills.
• Coordinates and helps establish design criteria in accordance with industry standards in conjunction with Lead Engineers.
• Reports to Lead Engineer at the project level. Reports to discipline coordinator and discipline manager at the discipline level.
