Overview

The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for designing and developing robust and innovative medical devices and equipment to support the commercialization of company-developed products. Responsibilities include cost estimation, design, verification, and validation. The engineer will collaborate with partners to deliver designs of electromechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities
  • Work with vendors to complete designs
  • Review vendor-provided designs to ensure they meet product requirements
  • Research design options and perform experiments to assess feasibility
  • Complete high-level design; work with external partners on detailed design
  • Collaborate closely with electrical and software engineers, designing with a system-wide perspective
  • Interact with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to optimize for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Create and release product requirements, design specifications, and descriptions in compliance with medical device standards and internal procedures
  • Ensure engineering documentation complies with corporate policies
  • Review product documentation for accuracy, including customer-facing materials
  • Participate in designing, prototyping, testing, and qualifying high-reliability medical devices
  • Support risk assessments, design reviews, pre-production, testing, and regulatory submissions
  • Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications using analytical techniques
  • Assist in the development of intellectual property
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in technical product or mechanical device design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required;
    Master’s preferred
  • P.Eng from EGBC preferred; ability and willingness to obtain P.Eng license required
  • Extensive experience working with design partners
  • Proficiency in Solid Works and its add-ins
  • Experience with plastic injection mold tool design, including insert molding and over-molding
  • Proven project development skills in a medical device R&D environment
  • Ability to define project goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience working in a technical team environment
  • Independent judgment using sound engineering principles
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail

* For applicants without an Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer license, an alternative title will be used until a license is obtained. Verathon supports professional growth and reimburses expenses related to EGBC licensing.
