Overview

The IP/MPLS Telecom E5 Engineer will support and design our telecom IP/MPLS network focus on ensuring reliable, deterministic performance for mission-critical applications with IP/MPLS QoS and Traffic engineering architectural design, implement and configuration sponsored by major MPLS-related projects. This position will perform other IP/MPLS related tasks, but not limited to, network design, solution test plan and execution, new MPLS device introduction verification and lab testing, standard documentation, etc.

What

you will be doing
  • A minimum ten (10) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
  • Develop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgement to perform tasks including developing designs, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on medium to highly complex assignments for the com projects and operations.
  • Meet safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by proposing changes in plans and estimated costs, recommending payment for work completed by contractors, preparing progress reports, coordinating work schedules and other similar tasks.
  • Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion at the company.
  • Participate in the companyengineering practice by conducting independent studies and analysis, contributing to the development of technical standards, exercising judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs, and making decisions related to methods and designs as well as providing guidance and advice to other engineering professionals to develop future capability at the company.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of engineering/geoscience services to be provided, establishing the basic design criteria with the client, approving all related technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications to support completion of projects safely, with quality, within budget and on time.
  • Make decisions and recommendations of a complex technical nature including the establishment of design bases, criteria and concepts, and/or on matters affecting the management of engineering/geoscience resources and activities to support major work assignments for the engineering divisions at the company.
What you must have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • A minimum ten (10) years of working experience as a telecom engineer including significant time working in the electrical utility industry with at least 5 years in QoS and traffic engineering.
  • A minimum four (4) years of working experience in leading or coordinating multi-discipline design teams
  • Good working experience with typical telecom components including: microwave systems, fibre optic, or power line carrier, inclusive of all aspects of the system including structures, antennas, radios, battery banks, control room installations, remote telecom buildings, and generators.
  • Professional Engineer registered with EGBC
  • Strong knowledge of IP/MPLS, QoS mechanisms (Diff Serv, RSVP-TE), and traffic engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with OT telecom systems and standards.
  • Must have Nokia NRS II or Nokia Certified Service Routing Architect (SRA).
  • Solid electric utility engineering background with the ability to think from a transmission system and operations perspective as well as an ability to understand the interactions and priorities of multi-discipline projects
  • Good working knowledge project management principles and roles
  • Good working knowledge of design, substations, protection, control, and telecom systems, an asset
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
Nice to have
  • CCIE/JNCIE or similar advanced certifications
  • Cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443)

Salary Rate/Range: $99.00 -$123.00 per hour

Term:12 months contract; most likely to extend
