We have developed a groundbreaking medical device for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation – which can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart‑related complications.

Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. We have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – a product with strong, unique, and customer‑valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have obtained FDA approval and officially begun the commercial launch of the Globe® Pulsed Field System. This is a pivotal and exciting time in our journey, as we bring this life‑changing technology to patients.

As a member of the FPGA team, you will get hands‑on experience in the development and commercialization of complex and leading‑edge medical devices. The electronics includes FPGAs, high‑speed digital circuits, precision analog signals, RF power and high‑voltage pulse generation. Small‑signal analog inputs are analyzed in real time while RF or high‑voltage pulsed power is delivered to the target heart tissue.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of
  • Digital logic design in VHDL/Verilog (e.g., synthesizable circuits for FPGAs)
  • Digital logic design using block diagrams in Vivado
  • Verifying the digital logic designs using test benches
  • Verifying and troubleshooting the FPGA designs through board‑level testing
  • Developing designs with an embedded soft‑core processor (Micro Blaze, Zynq)
  • Understanding the TCL script used to synthesize with the Xilinx (AMD) tools
  • Data analysis (e.g., analysis of test data in MATLAB and documentation of results)
  • System‑level testing and debugging of prototypes and pre‑production units
What you bring to the team
  • A solid understanding of the programmable logic design flow (FPGAs)
  • Experience with writing hardware description languages such as VHDL and Verilog
  • Experience with Xilinx tools such as ISE, XPS, Vivado, etc.
  • A good understanding of basic electronics theory
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Positive, proactive attitude and ability to execute tasks with an appropriate level of independence
  • Enthusiastic about seeking innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
  • Demonstrated success working in a team setting
