Position: Project Engineer, Building Science (Existing Buildings BC
Your Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of experience to join our team of technical professionals. In this role, you will manage Existing Buildings projects and address building envelope engineering challenges, requiring the application of technical building science knowledge, building envelope design, and building enclosure principles and standards. Day-to-day duties involve communicating with clients and project stakeholders, reviewing design documents, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, performing field reviews, and site testing.
Buildings range from small to large, wood frame to concrete.

Technical Responsibilities
Oversee and deliver field and office work including:
Conduct assessments and investigations; produce comprehensive technical reports highlighting findings and recommendations Design and develop construction documents for building envelope repair, renewal and rehabilitation projects (tender documents, scope of work, specifications, details and drawings) Evaluate building envelope work to ensure quality standards are met Work alongside and direct team undertaking field reviews throughout construction Oversee and perform window tests, air leakage tests, and other field testingCommunicate effectively with junior and senior staff, clients, and stakeholders to convey professional opinions and risks and limitations associated with decisionsTake professional responsibility for estimates, specifications, reports, documents, plans, letters of assurance, or other documents prepared and delivered in a professional capacity or that have been prepared and delivered by others under your direct supervisionConduct project post-mortems and share learnings with wider teamProject Management
Lead and manage building science projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budgets, and exceeding client expectationsMaintain full knowledge of the scope of work and scope of services for each project, including any changes which may occur throughout the course of the project; ensure services are compliant with scope and JRS company standards and proceduresPrepare and review monthly project billing to analyze billed services and ensure accounts are up to dateProactively manage all staff working on your projects to ensure profitability and quality consistent with company expectationsBusiness Development
Build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders (such as contractors, developers, and property managers) to achieve repeat businessProactively seek opportunities to establish relationships with new clients and maintain/improve relationships with existing clientsBuild on working relationships with other professional service firmsHere’s what you bring to JRS
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Applied Science/ Engineering and P.Eng. designation with EGBCA minimum of 6 years of work experience in building science and building envelope consultingKnowledge, Competencies, and Capabilities
