Unreal Engine Gameplay Animation Artist

Develop second-to-second gameplay animation in Burnaby for Small Axe Studios, using Unreal Engine and sports behavior expertise.
Small Axe Studios seeks an experienced Gameplay Animator with a high quality bar and passion for authentic sports behavior. You will create animations for interactive features, maintain mocap references, and help move work from ideation into engine. Collaboration with AI and Animation Engineers, Designers, Producers, and the Animation Director is central to the work. Your contributions will support a new 2K sports franchise and its player-first experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with the Gameplay Animation Lead on professional animation delivery
Keep mocap shot lists and reference organized
Develop animation through ideation, implementation, and final delivery
Collaborate with the Design Lead and Engineering team in engine
Support feature quality through appropriate animation choices
Requirements:
Experience developing and shipping AAA games
Unreal Engine 4 or 5 experience
Experience creating second-to-second interactive animation features
Clear understanding of authentic sports behaviors and human mechanics
Passion for sports, video games, and player experience
