POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Intergovernmental Relations, the Senior Advisor, Intergovernmental Relations is responsible for coordinating research, analysis, and development of materials to ensure government representatives receive accurate, relevant information regarding BC Housing programs and services. He/She/They leads preparation for and attends intergovernmental high profile meetings, digitally and in person, to support BC Housing senior leadership and subject matter experts. The position provides strategic advice on intergovernmental and inter-agency matters, including sensitive, emerging, and politically sensitive issues.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate will have the following:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, political science, or other relevant discipline.Extensive experience in the areas of public affairs, government relations, issues management, and stakeholder relations.Considerable experience conducting research and analysisin a large, complex organization that has significant government oversight.Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of the objectives, programs and best practices of government relations, public affairs, issues management, and stakeholder relations.Strong knowledge of the BC political environment, social / community housing, and policy, including an understanding or proven interest in learning more about Indigenous Relations.Proficient in the use of MS Office applications including Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook and ability to learn new software.Strong research, analysis, verbal communication, writing, editing, and presentation skills.Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.Ability to plan and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines with scrupulous attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as a team player with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.Ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including when collaborating on contentious and challenging priorities.Ability to synthesize and articulate complex issues, problem solve and facilitate the implementation of effective solutions.Ability to lead projects and provide advice to other staff, including senior leadership and executives.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner and display a high degree of judgement, discretion, and decision-making ability.Ability to travel on Commission business and work occasional evenings and weekends, with previous notice.Indigenous candidates are welcome to connect with an Indigenous team member in our organization to discuss the recruitment process and our workplace, please contact to arrange a call.
