Job Summary

We are hiring for a Full Time Radiological Technologist, Interventional Angiography at Royal Columbian Hospital.

Education, Training and Experience

Certification with the CAMRT; a minimum of 2 years’ recent, related experience in interventional radiography or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Royal Columbian Hospital is a provincial referral hospital (stroke/cardiac/trauma/neurosurgery) located in New Westminster, BC, with 439 acute beds and nearly 80,000 visits annually. Services include 24/7 emergency, outpatient, ambulatory care and a range of inpatient services supported by community services. The Redevelopment Project is well under way to increase capacity, beds and services by about 50 %.

Responsibilities
  • Perform interventional and angiography procedures according to established protocols and complete related paperwork.
  • Assist Radiologists during body and neuroangiography procedures and interventional cases such as percutaneous nephrolithotripsy and radio frequency ablations.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, observing and responding to potential contrast media reactions or other emergent situations; may perform CPR in emergencies.
  • Capture and archive images, verify patient identification, collate images with requisitions, and request previous studies.
  • Maintain workflow in the work area, ensuring equipment meets departmental standards and coordinating with support staff.
  • Conduct quality control duties, including equipment testing and reporting malfunctions.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs and perform quality assurance checks.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, set up examination trays, and manage supplies.
  • Demonstrate procedures and equipment usage to staff and students and participate in orientation of new employees.
  • Update patient and hospital records in radiology and hospital information systems.
  • Respond to inquiries from other clinical areas regarding patient examinations and schedules.
  • Determine workload measurements, compile statistical reports, and make recommendations for service improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules, including Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves and Infection Control.
  • Participate in approved research and special projects with the Supervisor and other health professionals.
  • Maintain equipment, arranging for maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements, reporting unsafe situations promptly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education, Training and Experience

Certification with the CAMRT; a minimum of 2 years’ recent, related experience in interventional radiography or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of general radiology, angiography and interventional procedures.
  • Knowledge of CAMRT standards and guidelines.
  • Expertise in aseptic techniques.
  • Evidence‑based practice knowledge for designated modality.
  • Knowledge of Interventional techniques and equipment.
  • Safe work procedures with medical imaging equipment.
  • Proficiency in IR techniques and equipment operation.
  • Broad knowledge of PACS and radiology information systems.
