Salary
The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 / hour
Royal Columbian Hospital is adjacent to the Sapperton Sky Train station on the Expo Line, accessible by public transit. The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project (RCHRP) is a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase the hospital s capacity, beds, and services. New Westminster is known for its waterfront views along the Fraser River and is part of the Greater Vancouver region.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and collect information from various sources, perform physical assessment, and plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Collaborate with patients and families in developing and modifying the care plan; establish a therapeutic relationship and advocate for patient rights.
- Participate in admission/discharge planning, update care plans, and communicate with the interprofessional care team and Patient Care Coordinator.
- Coordinate nursing care, set priorities, and delegate tasks to support staff; refer to the interprofessional care team as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, LPNs, Clinical Nurse Educators, and other professionals to adjust care plans as patient conditions change.
- Educate patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance; assess learning needs and provide information and demonstrations for self-care and discharge planning.
- Initiate referrals to appropriate health care/community services in collaboration with the care team.
- Document assessments, diagnoses, interventions, patient responses, outcomes, and referrals per practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Participate in nursing committees, care conferences, quality improvement activities, in-services, and ongoing professional development.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students; contribute to orientation and provide feedback on care programs and tools.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Skills And Abilities- Ability to conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care with appropriate interventions.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, the public, and the interprofessional care team.
- Ability to provide person-centered care with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and patient advocacy.
- Ability to integrate data to problem-solve; teach patients and families; organize and prioritize work; collaborate with the care team; apply evidence-based practice.
- Proficiency with related equipment and computer applications; physical ability to perform duties.
