Location: New Westminster

Job SummaryBring your clinical expertise, dedication and passion for providing quality and compassionate care to a challenging and rewarding role as a Cardiac locum Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Acute care covering both Electrophysiology and Cardiac consult programs in the context of team-based care— the first of its kind! As B.C.’s oldest hospital, and one of its busiest, Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) provides expert care to the province’s most seriously ill or injured.
RCH also provides a number of highly specialized acute care services such as tertiary trauma, cardiology, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, neurosurgery and vascular surgery that often require the care of multiple medical specialists, multidisciplinary care teams and the use of specialized equipment and technology.
We have an exciting opportunity for a 1.0 FTE Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiac locum team at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. Given the specialized nature of this role, the Acute Care Cardiac locum NP model is a collaborative, co-managed, team‑based approach to patient care, where the cardiologists remain MRP or consultant of the patients. As part of this rewarding role the NP works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in a consultative capacity with a coordinated approach to ensure safe, quality, effective, and timely care for patients.
The NP will work Monday to Friday (7.5 hours/day) excluding weekends and statutory holidays. By creating this locum NP position in the cardiac program, the hospital can better manage patient volumes with complex co‑morbidities, ensure efficient utilization of resources, and enhance the quality of cardiac care provided during this period of increased demand.
RCH is conveniently located adjacent to the Sapperton Sky Train station on the Expo Line. This makes it easily accessible by public transit for both patients and staff.
Join us on an exciting project and make history. The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project (RCHRP) is a multi‑year, multi‑phase project to increase the hospital's capacity, beds and services. Read more here: RCHRP Phase two.
RCH first opened in 1862, is a vital referral centre and regional centre of excellence for trauma, critical care, cardiac care, maternity, neonatal intensive care and neurosurgery. When the full redevelopment is complete, the people of British Columbia will have increased access to cardiac, trauma, mental health, maternity and NICU services and beds.
New Westminster is known for its stunning waterfront views along the Fraser River, located on the north side of the Fraser River bordering several municipalities in each direction (Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, and Delta), making it the centre of the Greater Vancouver region.
