7am - 4pm Monday to Thursday, 7am - 1pm Friday

Own transport recommended due to location.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Machinist for an ongoing contract based in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire.

Relevant experience required
  • Machine shop covering engine component overhaul / refurbishment
  • Tool room machinist
  • Machine shop: one‑off low volume machining and qualifications of used components
  • Milling on Rottler machines, which involves refurbishing old parts and not production.
  • Background working from a "tool shop / tool room" environment and experience inspecting, using measuring tools such as verniers, calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to use CNC controls.
Key

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Machine blocks and casings for Voith and NT blocks.
  • Use Rottler and milling machines.
  • Re‑bore out engine block and the internal bushes of conrods.
  • Re‑bore and sleeve Voith Transmission casings.
  • Re‑qualify diesel engine connecting rods (conrods).
  • Regrind 6‑cylinder diesel engine crankshaft main and big‑end bearing journals.
  • Polish 6‑cylinder diesel engine crankshaft main and big‑end bearing journals.
  • Regrind 6‑cylinder diesel engine crankshaft flywheel flange.
  • Dressing and balancing of grinding wheels.
  • Basic TPM (Total Product Maintenance).
  • Programme Rockler milling machine.
  • Use metrology equipment, verniers, calipers and micrometers, etc.
  • Perform inspections of equipment, structures, materials and products.
  • Analyse information and find the best solutions to problems.
  • Maintain clear and honest communication at all times.
  • Keep the work environment safe.
  • Learn and apply the latest relevant knowledge to the work.
  • Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable.
  • Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.
  • Report any near misses.
  • Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
Background & Experience
  • Relevant experience required.
  • Be practically mechanical oriented.
  • Possess good problem‑solving skills.
  • Recognised engineering qualification required.
  • Self‑motivated.
