Triage, virtual and outpatient review of general respiratory referrals will be included in all job plans. The postholders will input to local and shared lung cancer, sleep, ILD and asthma MDTs and regional asthma and cough MDTs based on their specialist interests. Developing an acute respiratory "hot clinic" to allow patients presenting to A&E/ SDEC to be discharged with early respiratory input on discharge or to see urgent referrals from primary care will be encouraged.

Pleural day case procedures including indwelling pleural catheters are currently done in the Pleural assessment unit located close to the Respiratory inpatient unit. Thoracoscopy is weekly on the Salford site with input from a Fairfield respiratory physician.
