About the Role

Paper making is a complex, fast‑moving process—our machines are larger than a jumbo jet and operate faster than motorway speeds. As an apprentice at our Stubbins site, you will develop the technical understanding and hands‑on experience needed to support our manufacturing operations. You’ll join an experienced team with a strong track record of coaching and developing apprentices.

What You Will Do

Over three years
, you’ll complete the Engineering Operative standard
, gaining:

  • Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations
  • Business Improvement Techniques qualifications
  • Industry‑specific paper making training
  • Modules from Essity’s global Manufacturing Academy

Your training will combine on‑site work with block‑release training supported by a dedicated assessor.

Your work‑based learning will focus on:

  • Safely and effectively operating manufacturing machinery
  • Understanding key manufacturing systems and production costs
  • Supporting machine maintenance, including some mechanical tasks
  • Carrying out audits
  • Ensuring product quality standards are met

After completing your apprenticeship, you’ll be prepared for a full‑time role in manufacturing operations.

Who You Are

We’d love to hear from you if you can show:

  • GCSE grade 3/D (achieved or predicted) in Maths and English;
    Science preferred
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to complete small projects accurately and efficiently
  • Problem‑solving skills using information you’ve gathered
  • Strong communication and teamwork
  • Motivation to challenge yourself and grow

You will start on a Monday–Friday schedule (37.5 hours per week). Once you meet the required skills and legal age, you’ll move onto our attractive shift pattern: four 12‑hour shifts (two days, two nights) followed by four days off.
