Clinical Psychologist - Development Post

We are excited to be offering a permanent, 0.9wte 8a Senior Clinical Psychology post, for suitably qualified, skilled and experienced applicants, in the CAMHS team covering Gwynedd and Anglesey. We are a friendly, experienced and dynamic multi-disciplinary team and are based in a beautiful part of North Wales. The eating disorders component of the post will cover Gwynedd and Anglesey, with some appointments undertaken at the North Wales Adolescent Unit in Abergele.

The core CAMHS work will be in Meirionnydd and Dwyfor.

We would also welcome applications from suitably qualified Clinical Psychologists looking to progress to a Senior Clinical Psychologist role. In this situation, the successful candidate willbe appointed into a development post at Band 7,and on commencing the post will set a learning development plan with their mentor to achieve specific competencies within an appropriate timescale.

This is likely to be a period of between 6 months and 2 years for completion depending on current skills and experience. Promotion to 8a post would happen on successful completion of the plan.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the sector, providing specialised psychological assessment and therapy to clients.

To work autonomously in accordance with The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines 2004, and Health and Care Professions Council.

Within the team, to exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of assistant psychologists and the workload of trainees, within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures.

To contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures in order to facilitate improvement in service quality.

To advise service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.

To provide professional and clinical supervision for designated staff, as appropriate.

To provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee clinical psychologists and to deliver training to other professionals.

To utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.

To act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide a service to children and young people (0-18 years old), and their families, where the young person has severe mental health difficulties. They will be expected to develop expertise in eating disorders. The post holder will conduct assessments, develop working formulations, and will offer appropriate interventions to the young person and their family. They will work closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team, and will offer consultation and supervision to their colleagues as appropriate.
