Senior Compliance Controller circa £45,000 dep on experience plus excellent benefits. Caerphilly Area. Global Manufacturer.
Senior Compliance Controller ensures the company meets all statutory, regulatory, and internal compliance obligations relevant to UK manufacturing operations. This newly created position requires considerable experience: 3-5 years working in UK Manufacturing Industry with extensive experience of import and HMRC material/component codings. Knowledge of similar export internal compliance obligations would be desirable. The role is hands‑on, overseeing day‑to‑day compliance activities, maintaining key documentation, supporting audits (internal, regulatory and customer) and supervising team members to ensure high standards of accuracy and delivery.
This office‑based role operates Monday to Thursday.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and enforce compliance with global trade regulations.
- Track changes in relevant legislation and advise management on required updates.
- Maintain compliance records, certifications, and oversee document control systems to ensure accuracy.
- Liaise with HMRC, customers, shipping partners and internal stakeholders on customs queries.
- Monitor and resolve customs delays, document discrepancies and clearance issues.
- Lead tariff classification of all imported products.
- Allocate tasks, monitor workload and ensure timely completion of compliance activities.
- Oversee the company's CSR requirements with the supply base.
- Assist in developing our supplier portal to send/receive compliance requests.
Skills and Abilities
- 3+ years of experience in global trade compliance, logistics in a UK manufacturing environment.
- Extensive experience of HMRC codings for the importation of components/materials.
- Experience of engineering drawings would be an advantage.
- Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory information clearly.
- Experience supervising or mentoring compliance administrators.
- Strong IT skills.
- Familiarity with compliance platforms such as Assent.
- Excellent organization, document management and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
You must have the permanent legal right to work in the U.K.
Travel to work from:
Cardiff, Newport, Caerphilly, Cwmbran, Merthyr Tydfil, Abergavenny, Bridgend, Swansea.
Salary: circa £45,000 + benefits.
