Senior Accountant, Reconciliations
complete and automate various account reconciliations.
This role will be tasked with the documenting finance processes and identifying improvements.
The Senior Accountant, Reconciliations should have the ability to address tight deadlines, be self sufficient and a self starter. The incumbent must be able to balance multiple competing priorities such as general ledger entries, financial & management reporting, month-end close, year-end audit, GL reconciliations, trust accounting, and cash flow management/reporting.
Responsibilities
Account Reconciliations:
• Complete complex account reconciliations. Document the reconciliation processes
• Complete detailed subledger or other balance reconciliations as required.
• Define automation capabilities for the balance sheet reconciliations including a tracking/monitoring process.
Process documentation
• Document the business processes for the Accounting and Finance teams
• Complete an inventory of the business process
Deployment of various finance services
• Participate or lead various projects for finance.
• Project examples: completion of the bank payment database, rebuild the historical bank payment transactions, expand bank services, deploye
Backfill open roles or provide high level skills
• Backfill open roles and complete various analysis. Analysis may have differing levels of complexity based on the need of the team and deliverables required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a in senior accounting position.
• Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager.
• Ability to manage employees while multi-tasking large projects.
• Exceptional knowledge of finance operations, accounting principles, financial reporting standards.
• Ability to lead projects
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software (Great Plains), MS Office Suite.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability and desire to work at differing levels of details/complexity.
• Ability to prioritize work and multiple competing deadlines.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with software system troubleshooting and recommending improvements to processes
• Experience with software system implementation is a nice to have.
• Prior work experience at an insurance company, brokerage, or managing general agency.
• Experience with Great Plains software or other similar financial systems
Additional Notes
• The hours for this position are 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required based on the needs of the business.
• The preferre location for this role is Calgary, Alberta, Toronto is an alternate location. Depending on the candidate, travel may be expected to Calgary.
