Our Calgary based client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations while providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support daily activities of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and billing.Oversee general ledger entries and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings, year-end working papers, and audits.Manage GST/HST remittances and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Develop and maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies.Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support operational and strategic planning.Collaborate with leadership to optimize cost management and revenue recognition processes.Train and mentor entry level finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.Assess current accounting operations, recommend improvements, and implement new processes.Handle special projects and additional duties as requested by management.Adapt responsibilities as business needs evolve,
