. As a trusted advisor you’ll provide tax advice on domestic and foreign assignments, empowering client organizations and employees to maintain regulatory compliance and mitigate risk.
- Manage U.S. and combined U.S.
-Canadian individual income tax return preparation for U.S. citizens living in Canada, U.S. residents working in Canada, and Canadians working and investing in the U.S. - Assist in carrying out cross-border income tax and estate planning.
- Deliver industry and technical expertise relating to Canadian and U.S. individual income tax, social security, and international tax treaties through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high-quality deliverables.
- Participate in expatriate policy design and implementation and expatriate compensation design and implementation.
- Advise on Canadian and U.S. individual income tax policy and tax changes.
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions.
- Correspond with clients and government agencies to address client tax compliance issues.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines.
- Lead engagement teams, developing effective relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities.
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
- Completion of a CPA designation; completion of CFE examination and working toward relevant practical experience requirements will also be considered.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting or tax experience.
- Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. individual and income tax.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software.
