Senior Estimator

As a Senior Estimator, you’ll play a key role in shaping our projects from the very beginning. You’ll be responsible for preparing accurate and timely full-cost estimates, think hard bids—covering scope, resources, equipment, and materials—to ensure competitive bids and strong project margins.

• Effectively determine the bid strategies required for Chandos to be successful
• Prepare and coordinate full‑cost estimates for all project phases—concept to tender—with a focus on collaborative methodology
• Lead estimating workshops to align costs with project goals and foster transparent decision‑making
• Perform detailed material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor take‑offs
• Establish and maintain unit costs, labour rates, escalation, and contingency allowances
• Solicit competitive bids, negotiate with subcontractors/suppliers, and conduct value‑engineering reviews
• Provide constructability advice during pre‑construction, coordinating with operations teams on procurement, schedule, and logistics
• Track estimated vs. actual costs, report variances, and support lessons learned for continuous improvement
• Build and maintain exceptionally strong relationships with subtrades, consultants, suppliers, and all of our valued clients

What You Bring

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience estimating/hard bidding on ICI projects with a mid-large general contractor (GC) (not just concrete/mechanical/electrical)
• Must be experienced bidding on completed work not just prospective
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting specifications, blueprints, and as-builts
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills for developing accurate material and labour estimates, as well as interpreting job-cost reports
• Experience with cost-estimating software to prepare bids and quotes
• AutoCAD experience is considered an asset
