HGC is a full-service engineering and environmental company specializing in civil and environmental projects. We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in design, management, and construction of engineered earthworks projects, including waste management facilities, dams, engineered containment ponds, and associated infrastructure in the upstream oil and gas industry in Alberta and British Columbia.
Position based in our head office in downtown Calgary, Alberta. Field trips may be required.
Your Main Responsibilities- Planning geotechnical site investigations and monitoring installations, managing staff, subconsultants, and subcontractors.
- Conducting site inspections and coordinating complex site investigations.
- Project management, including planning, initiation, coordination, execution, and close-out.
- Leading or participating in geotechnical design and analysis for soil and rock engineering, soil dynamics, slope stability, foundations.
- Reporting and technical writing supported by senior staff.
- Mentoring junior engineers and EITs.
- Providing technical support for soil testing.
- Providing technical and commercial input on proposals.
- Developing relationships with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering.
- Registered as a P.Eng. in Canada.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Computer and software skills:
Geo Studio, LPile, APile, Settle3D, GIS Mapping Software, Open Ground/Holebase SI. - Ability to travel to remote sites as required.
- Valid driver’s license and legal right to work in Canada.
- At least 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience for Senior Engineer role.
- Exposure to large civil earthworks construction projects.
- Experience with design, construction, operation, and inspection of dams.
- Flexibility and open to changing priorities and multi-tasking.
- Previous experience working in geotechnical consultancy.
