Position: Drone Pilot Operator – Hybrid Field Role

Drone Pilot Operator – Hybrid Field Role

Integrated Geomatics is seeking a skilled Drone Pilot Operator to join our team. This hybrid role combines drone operations with fieldwork, supporting survey and environmental services, GIS mapping, and construction projects.

Skills and Responsibilities
  • Operate drones for surveying, mapping, and inspection tasks in remote and construction environments.
  • Manage and perform fieldwork, collaborating with survey and environmental teams.
  • Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate drone and field operations, ensuring project timelines, budgets, and methodologies are met.
  • Act as a company representative, engaging with client field representatives and landowners.
  • Prepare and communicate flight logs, field notes, sketches, and digital data for project documentation.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior field staff and drone assistants.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for drone operations and field processes.
  • Support and advance the Integrated safety program.
  • Perform occasional office-based technical work related to drone data processing and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Behaviours
  • Valid Basic Drone Pilot Certificate (Transport Canada);
    Advanced Certificate preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience flying drones (minimum 1-2 years preferred).
  • Experience working in remote areas and on construction sites.
  • Willingness to work shift schedules, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Strong working knowledge of drone hardware, software, and data collection methods.
  • Familiarity with survey equipment (GPS, Total Stations) and GIS mapping is an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to produce accurate and legible flight and field notes.
  • Problem-solving skills in field environments.
  • Ability to work well in a team and motivate junior staff.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Safety certifications (First Aid, H2S, CSTS) are assets.
