As a Water Resources Engineer
, you will join our Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta office as part of our dynamic Surface Water Engineering team.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong, demonstrated foundation in urban stormwater management who is passionate about tackling complex hydrological challenges. This role is ideal for an engineer who has a mind for detailed modeling and analysis, but is also comfortable converting ideas and concepts to detailed design, and can support the full project lifecycle through construction at the intersection of urban drainage, natural systems (like creeks, rivers, and wetlands) that aim to minimize receiving stream/river impacts.
RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of water resources projects for a diverse set of clients with responsibilities that may include:
- Lead engineering analysis and design for urban drainage and surface water management projects, for both private and public clients.
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs of stormwater management ponds and wetlands, grey/green infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control practices.
- Conduct specialized hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including Master drainage planning and stormwater analysis;
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of dual drainage systems (e.g., PCSWMM, etc.).
- Complex stormwater pond analysis (e.g., dam breach modeling, water quality).
- Detailed wetland water balance studies.
- Support river engineering and environmental assessment tasks.
- Prepare and/or review construction cost estimates and tender specifications.
- Provide resident engineering and contract administration support for construction projects.
- Successfully manage project budgets, invoicing, scheduling, change management, and client management.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including hydrogeological, geotechnical, survey, landscape design, transportation, structural, mechanical, electrical, and natural science disciplines.
- Direct and support field data collection exercises as well as data synthesis/analysis; including site reconnaissance and topographic surveying.
