CES Energy Solutions is looking for a Research & Development Chemist to join our Calgary Corporate Lab. This role will work within the dynamic world of drilling fluid product development and evaluation, as well as product technical support. The successful candidate will play a key role in systematically understanding the chemistry behind drilling fluid products and apply the principle to design, source and evaluate drilling fluid products.
The candidate will also be able to understand the current needs of company sales team and apply the knowledge and information towards product development.
Working in a fast-paced dynamic environment, the duties of the R&D Chemist include
:
- Support drilling fluid product research and development.
- Explore novel chemistry for drilling fluid applications
- Plan and conduct laboratory testing for product evaluation.
- Perform product and field sample analysis using various laboratory methods.
- Perform literature and patent search to support product development.
- Perform general lab assignments (e.g. inventory, housekeeping) as needed.
- Prepare laboratory reports and presentations as needed.
The right candidate will have a proven track record encompassing the following qualifications and skills
:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related major is required, advanced degree is preferred.
- Background in organic chemistry, surface chemistry or polymer chemistry is an asset.
- Have hands-on experience with laboratory testing and operating analytical equipment.
- Knowledge of drilling fluid is an asset.
- Familiar with modern instrumental analytical chemistry methods (e.g. FTIR, NMR, GC).
- Demonstrates technical knowledge, scientific creativity and collaboration skills in the development and execution of sourcing or preparing novel products.
