Job DescriptionWSP is seeking an Intermediate Process Engineer in Alberta, Ontario, and Atlantic offices. In this role, you will plan and complete work without supervision, check calculations, and support training of more junior engineers. You will design facilities across Canada and globally as part of a growing team.
Responsibilities- Conduct process simulations using appropriate software to optimize system performance and efficiency.
- Determine appropriate sizes for equipment based on process requirements, preparing data sheets that detail specifications and requirements for each piece of equipment.
- Perform calculations to determine the optimal size for process lines, considering flow rate, pressure drop, and temperature.
- Prepare data sheets for instruments used in the process, including specifications, operating conditions, and maintenance requirements.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to represent the flow of materials through the process.
- Markup Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to reflect changes in the process or equipment.
- Conduct studies to understand and improve the process, analyzing process data, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing solutions.
- Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, identifying and evaluating potential hazards and proposing mitigation measures.
- Review vendor drawings to ensure they meet process requirements, checking dimensions, materials, and design details.
- Most work will be task‑oriented; you may take charge of smaller projects or be assigned to a specific client as alliance support, supporting the Area Lead on larger projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering.
- Required minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry working as a process engineer, ideally with gas processing plant experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed with APEGA.
- Enjoy working in a team environment in an intermediate role to develop your skills.
- Strong communication and report‑writing skills.
- Organized, able to complete tasks with a focus on quality, schedule, and budget.
