Summary
We are recruiting for Application Specialist (Sales) Co-op/Intern Students for 12 months minimum (starting May 2026) to work with our Measurement Instrumentation and Valves & Actuation Inside Sales teams, based in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Application Specialists, this is an excellent opportunity to hone your customer service skills and expand your knowledge of the process control industry.
Working alongside Application Specialists in this technical sales role, you will gain insight into a variety of industries (, oil & gas, power generation, chemical) and their unique process control requirements. Our Application Specialist team consists of individuals who specialize in providing customers with application, instrumentation, and process solutions by way of sizing & selecting control valves, specifying measurement devices (, pressure, temperature, flow, pH, etc.)
and making recommendations for manual and automated on/off valves.
Work Term: 12-16 months, starting May, 2026
Role and Responsibilities
Assist Application Specialist team in generating quotations and proposals for small pursuits and large-scale international projectsRespond to incoming customer inquiries for technical information and quotationsEvaluate process requirements and budgets to develop technical solutionsUse Spartan’s business system to size and select equipment and generate quotations and proposalsQualifications and Skills
Enrollment in post-secondary program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process EngineeringProficient with MS Office programs;
Word, Power Point, ExcelStrong technical problem-solving skillsDemonstrated customer service and sales skills in an industrial environment an assetAbility to develop and foster relationships with coworkers and customersCustomer-centric mindset and collaborative team playerExcellent communication, planning, scheduling, prioritization, and time management skillsHigh degree of dependability and reliabilityDetail orientedEntrepreneurial work ethicApplications will be reviewed after the closing date and those candidates selected for the next steps in the recruitment process will be contacted directly.
