As part of DCC’s ongoing efforts to recruit a diverse workforce, the National Student Program offers students a 4‑, 8‑, or 12‑month work‑experience term. This is a great opportunity to be exposed to a work environment and to expand your skills. We have several opportunities in Western Canada at the following locations:
Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Cold Lake, Dundurn, Shilo, Edmonton, Moose Jaw, Winnipeg, Suffield, and Wainwright.

You will build a network of colleagues in a variety of disciplines, receive guidance, and gain office and field experience in construction, environmental, and/or project‑management work. Successful candidates may support in the following tasks:

• Monitoring tasks related to inspection, environmental/construction contracts, and control of materials
• Checking compliance with contractual requirements and reporting deviations
• Maintaining records, schedules and documents, and preparing standard reports
• Supporting renovation and new construction projects
• Participating in the tendering phases of construction and/or environmental contracts by reviewing plans and specifications
• Participating in consultant, construction and staff meetings

Your salary: The remuneration for post‑secondary students will align with the pay rates established by the Government of Canada’s Treasury Board guidelines. Compensation will be determined by the student's academic level and experience.

• You meet the minimum age requirement to work in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba
• You are currently enrolled in engineering, engineering technology, environmental science, or a related field at an accredited college or university
• A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is preferred
• You are eligible to work in Canada

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required, and some roles may require a secret security status clearance.

DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typical eligibility for a “Reliability” clearance requires five years of verifiable background information; for a “Secret” clearance, ten years are required.
