Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Junior Hydrotechnical/Civil Engineer for our Calgary, Alberta office. This is an existing vacancy for which we are actively recruiting. Job Functions
  • Support hydrotechnical and civil engineering designs, including river engineering, bank stabilization, flood mitigation, and stormwater management.
  • Assist in the hydraulic and hydrologic modeling of rivers, streams, and drainage systems.
  • Conduct field investigations for river engineering, flood protection, and infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze topographic surveys, geotechnical reports, and hydrological data.
  • Assist with preparing engineering drawings, reports, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct erosion and sediment control planning for infrastructure projects.
  • Support proposal development and cost estimation for projects.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering (or a related field).
  • 0-3 years of experience in hydrotechnical, civil, or water resources engineering.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software (e.g., HEC‑RAS, SWMM, PCSWMM, MIKE, Info Works, etc.).
  • Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Eligible for registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) in Alberta.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
  • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting.
  • Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures. Travel may include air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods.
