Land & Resource Manager, Southern Alberta

The primary objective of this role is to manage the land and aggregate resources necessary to develop and sustain operations in Southern Alberta. Key duties include targeting and acquiring new aggregate properties, negotiating agreements, obtaining permits and approvals, fostering relations with stakeholders—including provincial and municipal governments, local First Nations, neighbours, and communities—and maintaining accurate documentation using the Land Information System (LIS).

You'll Accomplish
  • Target, acquire, and divest aggregate properties to sustain operations and maximize value.
  • Secure and maintain all necessary land and resource permits and approvals from Alberta government bodies.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders (governments, First Nations, communities, landowners, neighbours).
  • Lead negotiations for agreements with external parties and manage leasing of Amrize land assets.
  • Ensure compliance with permits and implement best practices for land and resource management.
  • Interpret relevant rules, laws, agreements and contracts related to property, real estate, zoning and reclamation.
  • Manage aggregate resources and municipal regulatory matters, including municipal permitting.
  • Prioritise and complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines; demonstrate strong independent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Represent Amrize at public and governmental functions.
  • Maintain land and resource documentation, data accuracy and support development of the LIS.
  • Promote safety culture by communicating, enforcing, and improving health, safety and environmental policies.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: University degree / college diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Field of Study Preferred: Business Administration, Commerce or equivalent.
  • Required

    Work Experience:

    5+ years managing aggregate resources, road‑building or municipal government, including local land regulations, permitting, property transaction, due diligence and contracts.
  • Required Technical

    Skills:

    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite.
  • Travel Requirements: 10%.
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience interpreting rules, laws, agreements and contracts related to property, real estate, building & zoning, reclamation, and associated issues.
  • Working knowledge of the aggregate, municipal government or road‑building industry.
  • Knowledge of land use/development permits, real estate management, water rights, geology and wetlands.
  • Experience in community relations and public presentation.
  • Experience managing consultant services, preparing scopes of services and maintaining schedules.
  • Project‑management skills with priority setting and deadline adherence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong people‑management and leadership skills; proven ability to build internal and external relationships and collaborate within teams.
  • Disciplined and process‑oriented.
  • Strong independent problem‑solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to represent Amrize at community meetings, government functions and trade associations; willingness to attend late‑night hearings and meetings when required.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of Amrize‑approved personal protective equipment (“PPE”), including respirator requirements; employees requiring respirators must be clean‑shaven where the seal meets the face for fit tests.
