We're a not-for-profit mental health centre based in Calgary, with locations across Alberta. Our mission is to build good mental health and well-being so everyone can thrive in their community.
We're looking for one (1) temporary one-year term, full-time Youth & Family Counsellor I / II to join our team!
Role SummaryReporting to the Management of Eastside Community Mental Health Services, the Youth & Family Counsellor works as a System Navigator and is a contributing member of the team providing service to children, youth, couples, and families in the community via phone, video, and in-person. ECMHS is open 8 am to 11 pm, seven (7) days a week. Shifts as a System Navigator will be available during these times.
The System Navigator will demonstrate due diligence in being Exceptional in the delivery of high-quality services and in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes.
- Responsible for first contact risk management and intakes for clients accessing Eastside Community Mental Health Services
- Collaborating with other ECMHS staff – including administration assistant, crisis counsellors, clinicians, and management – to develop structured system navigation interventions for youth, families.
- Collaborating with internal Wood’s Homes professionals/programs and external community professionals/agencies to coordinate referrals and resources for ECMHS clients.
- In combination with relevant case management, responsibilities include supporting clients in-person in a variety of community settings, which could include organizations, medical settings, schools, court or other legal appointments, etc.
- Participates actively in supervisory meetings, team meetings, and retreats, planning sessions, and designated in-service training.
- Completes all required health and safety training.
- Reports workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to their direct supervisor.
- Executes other responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Diploma/Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, and minimum two years related experience, preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Experience in working in the community with vulnerable populations preferred. Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
- Must have a full, non-GDL class 5 driver’s license and own transportation.
