Community Support Worker – Day Options Program (4 Permanent Part-Time)
Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) recognizes the importance of skilled human services professionals and is currently hiring four permanent part‑time Community Support Workers (CSWs) for its Day Options program. These positions are located throughout North‑East and North‑West Calgary and will support adults with disabilities in community settings.
All four roles require a vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.
Job SummaryThe CSW encourages empowerment and independence for clients, facilitates goal‑oriented engagement, and supports community inclusion. Responsibilities include establishing professional boundaries, providing emotional support, daily‑living guidance, and coordinating community resources according to each client’s Individual Support Plan (ISP).
Schedule – Locations and Hours- Position 1: Monday–Thursday 09:00‑13:00. 16 hours per week (NE Calgary).
- Position 2: Monday 11:00‑15:00;
Tuesday & Thursday 10:00‑15:00. 14 hours per week (far NW Calgary). - Position 3: Wednesday & Thursday 09:00‑15:00. 13 hours per week (NW Calgary).
- Position 4: Wednesday to Thursday 09:00‑15:00. 19.5 hours per week (NW Calgary).
- Establish respectful, professional boundaries and positive working relationships with clients.
- Assist clients in developing and monitoring goals and objectives outlined in their ISP.
- Support independence in daily living, community inclusion, recreation, leisure, and health‑related matters as directed by the client coordinator.
- Maintain relationships with client guardians and other supports when applicable.
- Adhere to CASS policies, procedures, and program operations manuals.
- Check email communications at the beginning of each shift.
- Complete required paperwork: timesheets, monthly summaries, hazard reports, incident reports, etc.
- Participate in the CASS Health & Safety program and comply with Alberta OHS legislation.
- Hold valid certifications in core training and any additional training required for client support.
- Model CASS values, promote collaboration, and provide balanced feedback.
- Post‑secondary education in Human Services.
- Current Basic First Aid/Emergency First Aid (includes CPR/AED) certification.
- Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidentiality, patience, positivity, and adaptable communication style.
- Experience or knowledge of supporting adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid driver’s licence and vehicle considered assets.
