IT Deskside Services, Summer Student
Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. The company delivers approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain also operates a state‑of‑the‑art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths that provide tidewater access to global markets.
As an I.T. Deskside Services – Summer Student, you’ll work with a dynamic, fast‑paced group of Information Technology experts in our Calgary office. The successful candidate will learn and be exposed to a variety of technologies and will play a key role in maintaining effective technical support.

Key Responsibilities- Assist in the coordination and preparation of replacement technology to address the need for hardware lifecycle management of end‑user devices.
- Ensure desktop imaging and patching is completed and tested within the prescribed documentation.
- Build and deploy new user devices as needed for the onboarding process and lifecycle refresh.
- Assist with troubleshooting network issues such as Wi‑Fi connection problems, cabling issues, field‑site connectivity problems, and basic port configuration.
- Collaborate with internal IT staff including infrastructure, information security, and applications teams.
- Engage with business users and internal stakeholders to coordinate device replacement and troubleshooting, while delivering great user experience.
- Manage workloads through the centralized IT service management system (Service Now).
- Perform asset management functions to track the inflow and outflow of IT hardware.
- Assist with other team functions and provide support as necessary.
- Assist with off‑boarding procedures to retrieve hardware and place it back into inventory.
- Enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems program with an accredited institution, with at least one year of study completed.
- Strong interest in IT operations as a future career path.
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure and network systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications:
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. - Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Self‑motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
- Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited post‑secondary institution and return to full‑time studies in the fall.
- This role is full time in office and requires on‑site attendance for the duration of the summer term.
CAD $24.61 – $33.48 per hour.
