Position Summary

A Sr. Transformer Technician requires a qualified, service-oriented individual to perform installation, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of transformers. The candidate must be able to conduct inspections, assembly, vacuum oil filling, testing, and commissioning. They should manage small to large size projects with strong supervisory and organizational skills, be self‑directed, and committed to customer satisfaction. Excellent communication skills with clients, peers, and management are essential.

and Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex transformer service operations with advanced technical skills.
  • Resolve equipment issues using extensive knowledge and experience and recommend procedural enhancements.
  • Maintain clear communication about project details, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Mentor junior technicians in safe and effective equipment operations.
  • Lead transformer testing and troubleshooting, interpreting and explaining results.
  • Manage all aspects of transformer service tasks.
  • Ensure all work meets QA specifications and conduct pre‑completion inspections.
  • Help plan and coordinate field projects, manage resources, and prepare reports.
  • Maintain budget adherence for work hours and vendor deliveries.
  • Oversee re‑gasketing of transformers and create new gaskets/O‑rings.
  • Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are safe and maintained.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, prepare project estimates, expand work scopes, and assist in negotiating extra charges.
  • Walk through customer sites, inspect issues, and report to Sales and Project Management.
  • Complete test reports in company software in a timely manner.
  • As directed, complete service and repair work at customer locations.
  • Work weekly and/or weekend overtime; holiday work is scheduled as needed.
  • Comply with all safety requirements, use PPE, and meet departmental safety goals.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and orderly; maintain safety and hygiene standards.
  • Work with team members to complete assignments; interpret customer needs and product requirements.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Proven multitasking ability, managing priorities, and supervising teams.
  • Skilled in assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transformers and accessories.
  • Interpret work scope, drawings, diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Operate transformer oil processing equipment with complete documentation.
  • Support testing of transformers and accessories, documenting results.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and online tools.
  • Strong industrial wiring and troubleshooting skills.
  • Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills and professional client interaction.
  • Collaborative, capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Strong background in high‑voltage equipment up to 230 kV class.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license for positions using company vehicle and construction equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (minimum 85 %).
