The Journey’s Program is a six-bedded live-in program for youth ages 13 to 17 years who have status with Children’s Services. Journey’s offers a recreation, life skills and relationship-based program, with an average stay of 6‑12 months. The intention of the youth’s stay is to collaborate with the youth and their supports to identify strengths and areas of growth where resourcing and skill development can be done with the aim of supporting the youth’s successful transition back to their family (parental or kinship setting) wherever possible, or into a less intrusive placement where indicated by the case plan.
The programming at Journeys focuses on cultivating each youth’s sense of self‑worth and helps each youth identify, establish, and maintain healthy relationships with their supports to allow for successful and stable transitions. The Journeys Program provides youth with a safe and nurturing environment; individualized care plans; educational and recreational activities; and the development of daily routines. The development of strong positive relationships is a key component of the overall success of the Journeys Program.
Position– Awake Overnight Youth and Family Support Practitioner
The Youth and Family Support Practitioner provides supervision and support to young people residing in the program and is a member of the team ensuring treatment plans are implemented. All workers are expected to assist with daily household routines and chores, minor facility maintenance and direct youth support. Youth and Family Support Practitioners must have good working knowledge of computer programs and skilled with basic office applications as there are daily administrative tasks as well as case management tasks as part of this role.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants should have minimally a degree/diploma in the Human Service field, experience with youth in a group living environment; be aware of trauma informed practices, and be professional, reliable and able to work independently.
Other Qualifications- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
- Current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Designation
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted) with a clear driving record.
