The Position
– Youth Support WorkerThe Youth Support Worker provides supervision and support to young people residing in the program and is a member of the team ensuring treatment plans are implemented. Candidates will be expected to assume key worker responsibilities and advocate for the youth. This position will involve working weekends, days or evening shifts and the ideal candidate will have interest in and training in recreation and outdoor recreation activities and a willingness to participate in recreation programs.
All workers are expected to assist with daily household chores and routines and may be asked to take the lead in certain areas of responsibility. Youth Support Workers must have good working knowledge of computer programs and skilled with basic office applications.
Qualifications/Experience
· Post-secondary education in the Human Services or related field
· 1-2 years of child and youth care, social work or human services experience is considered an asset
· CPR and First Aid certification
· Knowledge of Experiential learning, strength-based practice and trauma informed care
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license ()
· A clean driver’s abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offence
· Police Record Check with Vulnerable sector check (within six (6) months)
· Child Intervention Check (within one (1) year)
· Current Suicide Intervention (ASSIST) and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training would be an asset and must be completed within 6 months of employment
