Strength & Conditioning Instructor and Personal Trainer (Part Time)

Salary:
Strength and Conditioning Instructor: $16.40/hr - $20.15/hr (commensurate with education and experience), Personal Trainer: $25.49 /hr - $39.90/hr (commensurate with education and experience).
* The successful candidate will have the following availability:
- Friday: 5:30 PM – 10:15 PM
- Saturday: 3:30 PM – 8:15 PM
- Sunday: 3:30 PM – 8:15 PM

- Bachelor of Physical Education, Kinesiology or related degree preferred
- Experience in a fitness or exercise related field
- Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months)
- YMCA Personal Training Certification or equivalent (eg. AFLCA Resistance Training certificate)
- CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certificate (CEP preferred) is considered an asset
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
- Three professional references required
- Provide excellent customer service by identifying the needs and wants of members/participants as a priority and responding in an effective and timely manner
- Perform program and instructional duties as outlined by the Health & Fitness Supervisor
- Provide leadership to member special events and workshops/presentations as outlined by the Health & Fitness Supervisor
- Assist with the supervision of all volunteers working in the conditioning center
- Show members how to use the cardio equipment and strength and conditioning machines
- Provide a strong presence on the strength and conditioning floor, engaging with and assisting members, answering questions, providing adult and youth orientations while role modeling positive behaviors
- Use the Engage more tool to facilitate meaningful and goal focused relationship-building with members
- Encourage members to participate “activity challenges/events” offered
- Actively solicit members’ feedback regarding the YMCA and facilities
- Actively identify members who need an orientation program or follow-up
- Scan the environment and ensure the conditioning centre’s equipment is clean, in good repair, and that safety hazards are removed
